Nobody left?

Everyone seems to have ran off to Battlefield 3- I can't seem to get onto a BC2 game with more than ten people playing. I got into this game way too late, dammit.

Anyone here still plugging away at BC2?

I play it on the PC and there's plenty of people still rushing and conquering in that community. Not many play the Vietnam DLC though.

reply

Ah. I'm on Xbox ( at least until I get a better PC in the new year ).

You're in luck if you buy it through steam. Normally, it would cost $20 retail for a disc copy, but there are sales throughout the year on steam especially on holidays where you can buy and download a copy for as little as $6. I got mine for $6.49. Worth every penny.

I'm definitely going to get back into fps gaming on the PC rather than the Xbox ( cheaper, more responsive controls, larger amount of players etc ), but as I said, I really need a new set- up if I want to play any of the newer games. This PC's junk. Question is, do I throw loads of money at a beast of a gaming PC or just get one that I can do my work with?

reply

Depends if you have the money to spend and if you game a lot. If you do to both inquiries, go for broke and future proof it... for at least the next 3 years. I wish I have to money to upgrade my rig. It's game killer on Battlefield 3.. barely able to get decent fps and other graphical glitches. But then, I didn't expect much out of a ATI Radeon 4530. Runs smooth as silk with MW3 though.

Any kit/set up you could recommend? The thing is, I keep asking folks and get a barrage of incomprehensible computer babble ( I'm a dunce when it comes to computers' inner workings ). I've hopefully got a fair bit of cash to spend on something decent: need to run a few 3d modelling packages and art programs ( and yeah, some nice games! )

reply

Depends on how much you can afford to spend, but the priorities for a gaming pc are in no certain order are a blazing fast cpu (preferably a quad core with overclocking ability), a fast high memory video card and the amount of ram. The more expensive the hardware and the higher the number, the bigger the bang for the buck. It's also lot cheaper if you construct your own gaming PC by mixing and matching hardware for your own specific needs. Here's a noob's guide for the pc gamer and some of the highly rated gaming desktop on the market to give you a idea what's out there and what might fit you.

Any decent gaming pc can easily handle any video or 3d editing work if you so choose.

That's a fantastic amount of help! Cheers mate!
Keep an eye out for me on the battlefield early next year. I'll be the guy flying a helicopter into the side of a mountain...

You can take off without me...

reply

Yes its dying down. Its kinda sad really, especially since I HATE battlefield 3.

reply

I'm growing to like BF3 after a rocky period with the damn game. But I do suspect the only reason I stick with it at all is due to the lack of players on BC2...

reply

Late reply, but if more people played, I would still be playing BC2.

There is, unseen by most, an underworld...a place that is just as real, but not as brightly lit...

reply

There appear to be more players back on BC2. I've been on a lot recently. It seems a lot of gamers are fed up with BF3 and are heading back.

The Gunslinger smiled. "On the way to the Dark Tower," he said, "anything is possible."

UPDATE- if anyone still reads this board.

It seems people are finally beginning to come back to the wonderful BFBC2- had a couple of very good games recently on full servers. Anyone on the xbox who misses this should definitely go back to have a look. TB

reply

Yes I to have noticed people coming back on xbox. Its been great. Its all about finding the right time when alot of people are on. This game is epic and is %1000 times better than that travesty of a game; Battlefield 3.
