I'm pretty new to this game and have just migrated from MW2. I've been playing online for a week now and my biggest gripe is easily an entire squad just sitting at the base sniping!
Do they call in mortar stikes on points? No!
Do they Hide near points and snipe the opposition trying to take it back? No!
Do they add anything to the game? No!
I can handle losing a match due to being out classed but losing because your team just didn't show up, that's just weak.

I only play Hardcore rush and you're right there are a lot of snipers. Sometimes though the snipers can help, but as you stated it is pointless when they just sit at the very back and get like 2 kills. Usually though there are about 5-6 snipers on each team so everything evens out.

I have always been recon! since playing this, i range between 10-20 kills with sniper..I tend to use the morter to destroy things in my way

Sounds like you first three are MW2 noobies and you guys don't get the game and suck at it because you've played MW2 so long. MW2 ruins people.... :( sad I know. BC2 takes skill and is real, in real life and your at war with somebody would you think that they would go easy on you and maybe not take your tank? NO! I've played Battlefield a lot will only be a Battlefield person. Now that you have played it longer.... maybe do you feel different?

Pretty much everything you've said are the reasons I've had friends quit on BF:BC2 due to the annoying kill death ratio for new players. That combined with snipers and inept team members, it can be infuriating.
But when its good its immense.

I've recently got BF-4 and thought that before i play it, i may as well play the first 3 first. So, off i went to play the immensely long Bad Company campaign. I couldn't get online, so skipped it and then went on to BF - BC2. Brilliant campaign (in my opinion) and finally got a connection to t'internet. Now, i suck big time at these things. Too old and too slow to aim, so the kids and regular gamers kick my backside. But i really enjoy it, and still get the odd kill here and there. I'm still fairly new on BF2 but enjoying the whole experience, but i have noticed a lot of snipers. But it's better than MW where, as soon as i spawn i'm shot dead. My life span averages about 10 - 20 seconds. On BC2 i can last a full game with only a few deaths.
