Feminists trashed the movie for no reason

From the Awards section:
- Women Film Critics Circle Awards: Worst Female Images in a Movie;
- Alliance of Women Film Journalists: Movie You Wanted to Love, But Just Couldn't.

What's not to love here? The movie was clever and well-acted. Yet Charlize Theron's character was an immature b**** so yeah, let's trash it! You feminists just can't help yourself.

reply

Don't be so simplistic. I'm a feminist and I loved the movie, and the woman who wrote it is also a feminist.

Anti-feminists have extremely naive and delusional ideas about what feminism is and how we feminists think.

reply

Agreed. I'm also a feminist. I appreciate that this film flips the conventional romantic comedy tropes on its head by featuring a protagonist who is not only flawed but just wrong, and utterly undeserving of the guy. Life isn't a fairy tale. Dark characters can be interesting.

Exactly. Only a cartoon picture of feminist thought requires that all female protagonists be perfect little angels. Male writers have been able to explore flawed male characters since the beginning of story telling. Of course feminism would insist on the same freedoms for female writers and female characters!
