The Client List vs the upcoming tv series

So Lifetime is turning The Client List into a television series starting in March..I loved the movie, but is a series really necessary? Of course there's a lot of story-lines they can tell, but the movie wrapped it up as a whole & it appears JLH is playing a character named Riley? I'm kind of confused where they're going with this, whether or not the same actors are coming back etc..It did well when it premiered on Lifetime, & she was nominated for a Golden Globe..maybe she should try something new & leave something already well done alone! :P Not complain because I loveee JLH & will totally tune in, but just a little concerned.

I agree, I'm truly confused on how they are going to do this. If they already made a movie about it, how will they make a tv show?

In her interview on The Talk, she said she would be the owner of the massage parlor and be more "Hands on with the business." She also stated she would be dying her hair red for the role. From what I'm gathering, she won't be reprising her role as Sam and and this won't be a continuation of the movie. More like a remake of the movie in tv series form, but not following the same plot as the original.

However, Cybil is on board to play her mother, so who knows. Her husband has been recast, also. I'm assuming she'll be playing the owner of the business and it will follow the lives of the other escorts with Jennifer sporting lingerie every once in awhile to spike the ratings. Interested to see how this pans out.

I kind of agree. Lifetime now changed the name of the character and is putting a slightly different spin on it.

But,as you said, they should have "left well enough alone". A successful MOVIE is one thing...but stretching that into a SERIES becomes paper-thin very quickly.

Recently,Jennifer Love Hewitt defended the upcoming show (debuts April 8) against critics (such as massage parlors and religious groups.) She basically said that "if viewers like 'Dexter' then what's wrong with 'The Client List'?"

That argument seems valid, but for one thing: PLAYBOY founder HUGH HEFNER once said something like,"People are more prone to accept violence than intimate sexuality on televison"...which is a counter-argument...

I personally think that the series will flop. JLH has had 2 hits already, within a decade...and she needs better material and a better publicist.

Although prostitution is "the world's oldest profession" I don't think society is ready to have a TV series devoted to this alternate lifestyle...If this show IS a hit, then that is a mirror of what society has become....

this show will on cable, on a sunday not to many peoples will get mad at that idea. or think its odd to this watch kind of show?

I think it could be a decent show. I'm looking forward to watching it.

However, I think that it would go over better on a channel like Showtime where they could make it more provocative.

Love is not love which alters when it alteration finds.

I really wish I had seen the movie and am still sorting this all out because I have not. Obviously this next statement will give away my gender but JLH is hotter than hell in El NiƱo. I grew up watching her way back from party of five days which was pretty much a downer of a show except for her. Lost track of her over the last few years as she kind of fumbled from this to that but I've always thought she was so beautiful, hence the reason for my interest in this series

Again I totally missed the boat when the 2010 movie came out and may try and find it to figure out it vs. the new series. I just watched the premier of the series and again "being lifetime" overall thought it was good and has at least kept my interest to watch the next episode. That's not to be taken as an insult, but C'mon, I mean how many woman watch spice? eh???

Anyway I've always loved her face, she seems to be more in the headlines for her boobs and butt but I've always loved her eyes and smile. She could be a total snob in real life I suppose but I've always thought she was so pretty in a nice girl sort of way. Not that I don't think she's sexy which is why I'm intrigued to see how she does with the role in this show. As an actress she comes across as the girl who wants to be known as sexy rather than cute, but yet she turns down playboy and the opportunity to really express herself if she so desired. Go figure, but still a certain side of me admires that. Somewhat similar to Sara Jessica Parker who also has refused to show skin and is now over the hill. Her prerogative just as the case with Jennifer I suppose

Last thoughts... During the pilot there was a scene or two which hinted at her and her brother & law, which I just find disgusting. Yeah the show stars her being a beauty queen & all and all these other ripped up guys on the "Client list" and maybe like her co-worker shes going home at night and without a husband to boink maybe she's hornier than hell but if they go the route of her hooking up with the brother & law I'm gonna tune out and be done. I'm fine with her giving tug jobs or whatever to her clients or but if she bunks up wiht her brother & law it just gets disgusting at that point.

I love ya Hewitt, keep it going!

Why would it be disgusting for her and the brother in law to hook up? I'm more excited for that than anything else.
