Her work had flexible hours and she obviously made enough money to pick and choose how many men she wanted to see. She would've been more exhausted as a waitress. This felt forced and obviously just a plot device to get her doing coke.
Have you ever done it several times a day? It's exhausting. There is a reason people fall asleep afterwards. Sex burns more calories than waiting tables. At first she was only working 'when her kids were in school'. Then obviously she started working more hours...driving home late at night, missing football games.
Sometimes being EMOTIONALLY or PSYHICALLY tired (like you would be, having that job and acting "detached) is more "tiring" than physically (or makes you physically tired), if that makes sense. For instance, think of how you felt/feel after taking a huge exam at school or the SATs or something.

I think that tired thing was a plot device. Heck she had 3 kids she should be used to be tired. It was kinda like "omg, first she is whoring next she is on drugs!" Also, sex most definitely does not burn more calories than waitressing, unless you are having sex on a treadmill or something. I think some guy made that up to talk women into having more sex cuz it makes you skinny, lol
Just being under emotional stress can make you physically tired. I couldn't imagine how I would feel if I let random strangers, several times a day, have sex with me. It would be degrading, demoralizing, dirty, and I'd feel absolutely horrible. On top of that she has three kids and she's keeping this tremendous secret from her family and friends. I think she would VERY tired. And then I think as she started making money she took in more clients and more hours because of her selfishness. I don't think that is "forced" or far-fetched at all. Greed is something very easy to slip into.
I kind of agree with you Lifeguardfan that being under emotional stress can make you physically tired. It's like being in the room for an extensive period of time with one of those people that sucks the energy out of the room. It can take a normal day and all of the sudden ruin it.
HOWEVER, on the other posters side, the "boss" said in the movie that they were open Thurs, Fri, Sat, and Sun, so yeah she got plenty of time to catch up on sleep. Yeah I know she had house chores to do but I personally know you can nap while you are waiting for the dryer to finish lol.
So I am kind of on the fence about whether that was just a "plot device" to introduce the cocain thing too.
Ah, I didn't even notice the days they said they were open. Then yes, it would seem she did have enough time to catch up on sleep. Then again -- I'm not a full time mom and I know a lot often complain of how tired they are all the time. No disrespect to mothers out there -- I'm just sayin.
working plus mommy-ing and wife-ing would absolutely be exhausting. I was exhausted just being a secretary or a student, and I certainly wasn't doing anything physically tiring... i buy it.
Actually Mama says they are open Saturday to Thursday noon to midnight and Friday is payday so they start early and stay til the last one leaves.....so very easy to be tired since they are open everyday of the week...she could basically work whenever she wanted....
it's easy to leave early, and do the come and go as you please ( no pun intended) when you are working for 10 dollars an hour... but when youa re scoring $1000 tips, as well as expensive gifts, and attention, i bet scoring a few extra hours is a lot easier than turning it down. especially when you are trying to work off a mortgage.
She had 3 young children, husband, home, driving an hour to work, an hour home and having sex several times a day, every day. That is why she was tired.
She was emotionally exhausted, which makes you physically exhausted. Her heart was not in her work at all, she hated what she was doing & what she was doing behind her husband's back.
"I'd say this cloud is Cumulo Nimbus." "Didn't he discover America?" "Penfold, shush."
It couldn't have been the job cuz most of the women working in that field are faking it. It was more likely to be psychological stress than anything physical.
