I watched this movie tonight, for the very first time and thought it was a pretty good movie...until the end, when those women went to Samantha's house for instructions on sex. WTF wouldn't the women leave their husbands? I mean...even Sam's husband is getting back together with her(or so the end of the movie made it seem).
shareThat was a totally "for TV" moment. I am sure that did not happen. It is not at all realistic that those proud Texan women would go to the home of a "whore" for advice on how to keep their husbands satisfied.
I think, after reading an article about the true story, that the community was fast to forget and forgive, so I would be willing to bet that there were not many divorces as a direct result of the list.

Alot of people ended up Divorced alot of people's reputation and career's were ruined. This was more about public shaming than the actual punishment as most of them made plea deals, paid the fines and did the time really fast in an effort to put it behind them...

Or never been in a Barnes and Noble and seen the "relationship" section. No, no...we'll just head over to the hooker's house after church for tips. She's *beep* our husbands so she knows what they like. Oh, gosh, I hope she has plenty of bananas because I didn't have time to go shopping before the sermon.

It was implied that she was popular as a whore because she talked to the guys, remembered details about their lives, and made them feel special by taking an interest in them. But when the wives come over to ask for tips, she claims she went through several bananas in the course of showing them what to do. So which was it? Was she a surrogate wife to the guys, or did she just give a mean blowjob?
That scene was awful on so many levels.
