in the scene where sam and her husband stopped to get gas after she picked him up from the bar... sam reached into her purse to try to find money. did anyone else notice the signature marc by marc jacobs print inside her purse? why would she have a marc jacobs purse if she cant even afford to fill her car up with gas...

shareI agree with what was previously mentioned - you can go to any secondhand store and find Marc Jacobs, Gucci, Chanel, Louis Vuitton. The people who can afford those things new don't think twice about sending them to a secondhand shop or donating them when they get a new one. I do the same thing with my old purses (although the labels aren't that pricey). I also know a lot of people who buy them secondhand or buy fakes just to say they have the name brand.

shareMaybe it's easy to find disigner handbags and whatnot at the salvation army in a big city but definitely not at flea markets or the salvation army in east Texas. That's a poor area of Texas for sure. I visited a relative in that area a while back and it makes flea markets look good in Alabama. I think the prop department goofed on that one.
shareI wasn't thinking of flea markets - I live in a small town (though not in Texas) and we have two stores - Yours, Mine and Ours and Angels Attic - that it's fairly easy to find designer things there. Some are more battered than others, but they are rarely over $15. There's also Goodwill, but I've never been in there so I don't know if they have anything like that.

shareYears ago when I was going thought a rough patch my fathers bitch of a third wife made a comment like that to me about a purse she'd never seen, as if I'd spent money on something I couldn't afford. It was (is) a very nice woven leather bag, and I'd had it at least a decade.
It wasn't flashy, though. You can't buy a fake one because it's the quality, not the designer that matters. So, this character could have purchased a faux designer bag. And her flashy ring could be cubic zirconium or just a really poor quality diamond. It's all about show and flash.
