Have you seen the director's previous film, "All About Lily Chou Chou"? How does "Vampire" compare?

Also, how was the acting and dialogue?

reply

Yes. I am a huge fan of both Lily and Swallowtail (I have yet to see Hana and Alice).

I'd rate them this way:

Swallowtail
Lily
Vampire

But all of them are 10/10, and the difference in quality is minimal.

The acting was SUPERB!! Keisha Castle Hughes breaks your heart!! I forgot her name, but the actress who plays Ladybird was INCREDIBLE!!

The dialogue is good, but what stays with you is the imagery and the truly disturbing storyline. Seriously, there are many, MANY moments when people walked out. I met a friend afterwards and she told me she had to leave 40 minutes in because one scene got that much to her.

How is Kristin Kreuk? And what do her scenes consist of in the movie?

reply

and was Kristin Kreuk nekkid?

What is Trevor Morgan's role?

This film is simply beautiful. Adelaide Clemens was stunning.

The dialogue reminded me of previous films of Iwai Shunji.

If I were to describe this film in three words, it would be these: subtle, nuanced, and delicate.

Those are great words to describe this film. Such an interesting little movie which kept my attention; it pricks you in odd places and you have to sit back and figure out what you are feeling. Bravo.

I just watched it and I really didn't like it. I'm a fan of the vampire genre but I didn't realize the storyline was about today's self proclaimed "modern vampires". I've watched documentaries on the subject and frankly I just can't stand listening to those people. They claim to "lust for or need blood" and for some reason they also have to dress the part (although not all) I find it excrutiatingly annoying that people in real life actually want so much to be vampires that they actually carry out the role. Having said all that the entire movie was a major disappointment to me. The only time I appreciated the dialogue was when Simon "talked Mina out of it" in the lab. That scene was profound.

Just watched it. Intriguing, dramatic, character driven and intensely real. The thrust is a challenge to the viewer's judgment of the protagonist's morality and (more importantly) ethics. A serious movie that may have been destroyed by its title.

Doctor Mabuse, Evil Genius, King of Crime
