At least the women are pretty in Salton Sea

Salton Sea is presented as such a poor, lame, boring place in this movie. With one striking exception - the women. I don't mean the teenage girls (these are always hot) but those hot, sexy mothers and aunts. One of the girls calls her mother old, but this can only be true from a 13 year old perspective. The grown up women of Salton Sea looked anything but old.

Is this realistic, I ask. Real life observations seem to suggest that Americans living in poorish neighborhoods and regions are often overweight and not well cared. Perhaps my observations are incorrect. Or is this movie yet another case of "hollywood homely" (google it, if you don't know what it means).
