Diane Lane Outstanding in Cinema Verite

I watched Cinema Verite on HBO last night and thoroughly enjoyed it. Diane's performance, as the main character in the movie, was outstanding. It's the type of "meaty" role that did her great talent justice. I'd love to see her get more similar roles in the future.

The rest of the cast was good, especially Thomas Dekker as the gay son, Tim Robbins as the unfaithful husband, and James Gandolfini as the producer.

Agreed. As a longtime Diane fan, I'm always happy to see her in a good role like this that is worthy of her talent.

Diane Lane was superb in "Cinema Verite." The film, which I think should have been longer, was elevated because of her luminous presence. I really liked Kate Winslet's performance as the put-upon title character in Todd Haynes' absorbing "Mildred Pierce," but if I could have my pick for the Best Actress in a TV-Movie/Mini Series actress, I would definitely mark my ballot for Diane Lane. I thought she was THAT good!

Completely agree. Diane Lane is really superb in everything she is in. And in "Cinema Verite" she really stole the show, which was no mean feat considering the high calibre of actors playing opposite her.

There is something very compelling about Diane Lane when she is on screen, I don't know what it is, maybe it's her eyes, but she seems to always have great depth in her character portrayals. First rate actress, and really beautiful!!

Diane Lane is my win as well.

Diane Lane is basically an actress who's good in everything.

I agree, but this role allows her to show more depth and range than most of her films. I consider her one of the more underrated actors of her generation. Her prolific career is filled with one good/great performance after another.

She was excellent. Best performance of hers that I've seen by a distance. Gandolfini and Robbins were really good too.

I think everyone was good here, but Diane Lane was by far the best. Of course, her character was much better written than the others, who were largely just stock figures. I look forward to her continued maturation once she becomes an actress "of a certain age," which by Hollywood standards, she already is.
