I interviewed Lance for my college paper in the '70s.

He came to Philly to perform with his band, the Mumps, and I wrote an article about him. The only thing I remember distinctly is that when I asked him about his family, he said, "They all died in car crashes." I was in college from 1974 to 1978 so I guess this was between 1976 and 1978. I wish I still had the article.

Obviously, the info about his family was completely untrue. And I met him in NYC in the early 1980s, too.
Also, just discovered that the Raymonds also did another film for PBS in 2002 with Lance before he died of AIDS entitled "Lance Loud! A Death in an American Family."

He actually said that about his family? Sad.

Too bad you didn't save your clips. Was your school big enough to digitize all the archives?
