Nope, I’m 24 and I also really enjoyed it.

Do you believe in magic?

reply

I enjoyed it as well. It's not as great as I might have hoped, but it's also not as bad as some people would have you believe.

I'm a 32yo guy who loves the 1939 Wizard of Oz. I actually really enjoyed this movie. I think it helps if you don't compare it to the 1939 movie because this one is based off Baum's books not that movie.

Opinions are like *beep* Everyone has one and some stink!

I'm almost 27 and I liked it too.

The problem every Oz movie faces is being compared to the '39 musical. Though I'm not the biggest fan of it, I respect that it's a classic, but it's not the be all, end all of everything Oz related.

Don't eva let nobody tell you you ain't strong enough

I'm 37, I grew up watching the 1939 film (which I finally saw in the theater in 1997), and I also read many of the books as a child. (My personal favorite is the second book, Land of Oz.) I really, really liked Oz the Great & Powerful. I was surprised by the mixed reaction it got from critics and fans (though it did do well at the box office). It was not just entertaining, but actually managed to tie up a lot in a satisfying manner--something that's hard to do with this sort of material. My one complaint is that Mila Kunis (a good actress) sounded a bit too contemporary.

I mean, it wasn't the greatest movie ever, but if I was forced to watch it on repeat for the rest of my life I wouldn't mind. It is very campy, but in a way that sort of makes the movie as well. I thought everyone was decent in their roles, too.

I liked it.

Swing away, Merrill....Merrill, swing away...

I loved it, I don't know why some people are so nitpicky. Obviously is not better than the 1939 film, it wasn't meant to be.

I love China Girl, is one of the most adorable cg characters i've ever seen.

It's certainly not a great or powerful film by any means as it is a bit generic and there are a lot of scenes that are very cliche, but it is an entertaining ride with decent performances(mostly), an appealing visual style, and a charming tone and wit and it's certainly not as bad as some people are making it out to be.
