Better than part 4, but very overrated

I thought it was a pretty decent movie. It had great suspense in some scenes, plus that Miles Fisher was awesome in his role playing an emotionally wounded character. And it also took itself more seriously, really building the story up. The twist was also clever since Sam said he would go to Paris and the plane 180 that he took, was indeed the one to Paris.

However, some of the characters, like Olivia and Isaac, were just stupid and really annoying. And while I was invested, there were some parts where I honestly got a little bored. And a few of the deaths did feel kinda lame, like the final one with Nathan.

I gave it a 7, so that means I still enjoyed it. But why do so many think this is one of the best of the series? It's my second least favorite actually.

overrated? by whom?

in the context of a mainstream horror film that's an odd statement.

Not overrated when it comes to horror movies in general, but overrated in terms of the franchise. Some people even has this one as their favorite, but it's my second least favorite in the series.

Considering it's the only Final Destination film to be fresh (barely) on Rotten Tomatoes, I could see it being called overrated from that perspective. But I don't see it as overrated, it's my favorite Final Destination film.

It's overrated.

I thought it was great for pretty much all of the reasons you listed, and it went back to the dark and sinister tone of 1 and 3 (my favorites)...

My order from best to worst would be:

3, 1, 5, 2, 4

Quite a good ranking, mine would be;

1. Final Destination 3
2. Final Destination 2
3. Final Destination
4. Final Destination 5
5. The Final Destination

3 is my definite favorite, 4 is the definite low point. The other three though are all roughly neck-and-neck. I go back an forth on which I prefer out of 1, 2 & 5. All good films.

This movie was actually good.

I have to watch it again though.

I liked it a tad more simply because they added that twist in the end making it the year 2000, but also the part where they can kill someone and take their lifetime, which wasn't in any of the other 4

While the effects in 4 weren't great, especially towards the beginning, I thought that it was a better movie than 5.

I guess they were just trying to wrap up the series and end it with this one. To me, I didn't really get that this was supposed to be a prequel till we got to the ending.

And, that whole "you have to kill somebody to live" thing seemed odd, since it wasn't in the rest of the movies. Also, you know that, if anyone tried to kill someone to get out of death, it wouldn't work anyway.
