You Know What Else Offends Me?

Please help me. I need people willing to boycott other movies that have personally offended me. I'm looking for anyone who's willing to become emotionally involved quickly and looking for moderate to large amounts of attention grabbing. Here are the current protests:

Old School: My grandfather had a heart attack after being assaulted by two naked women and they made a comedy out of it starring Will Farrell. How can anyone like this movie?

Finding Nemo: I had to flush a fish down my toilet when I was five and this horrible Pixar comedy brought back so many bad memories that I have had to start up a prescription for sleeping aids in order to doze off without having nightmares.

Juno: I recently got my girlfriend pregnant after the condom broke and now she's demanding money I don't have to support the kid. I can't work more than 60 hours a week or my doctor says I might collapse. I just Netflixed this Oscar-nominated comedy and was horrified that a movie would make light of teenage pregnancy; this is disgusting.

30 Minutes or Less: I went to the theater to see this new comedy that people had continually been bitching about, saying it was making fun of a real-life tragedy. I watched it and was disgusted that it not only neglected to make fun of any such real life event but it actually had a number of serious scenes and not a single joke about Jesse Eisenberg's character's tragic situation. I was promised an inflammatory comedy and what I got instead was 83 minutes of laughter. I want my money back.

Thank you for the review. I'm wondering about how the movie compare to the real event.

reply

Absolutely zero similarities outside of the initial set-up of a bomb-wearing bank robber. The filmmakers have obviously attempted to treat the matter with tact.

LMFAO...best thread on this board.

You're an idiot. Even the plot to kill his dad was taken from the true story. Though they changed it from mom to dad.

A couple criminals got a pizza delivery man to deliver a pizza at an empty lot out of town. They strapped him with a bomb and told him to rob a bank or they would kill him. That's the real story.

I understand not caring it was stolen from reality and the idiot producers claim it's "original", but to be so stupid to buy their lies, that I don't get.

Funny, the filmmakers claimed to have no knowledge of the crime that occurred in 2003.

Apparently, they have not discovered the internet yet.

reply

Perhaps this is the filmmakers' way of distancing themselves from the faux controversy that seems to be generating these threads or maybe they really are just putting us on and actually do know about the crime. Regardless, this doesn't change the fact that the subject matter is treated with tact.

By your logic, if I made a comedy about an oil spill and didn't acknowledge the BP Gulf spill, you would accuse me of being insensitive. Which makes literally no sense.

reply

This movie is plain sad.

As always, Hollywood has no original ideas so instead of yet another reboot, this time they take a tragic true event and try to make a "funny" movie about.

Sadly, the person this really happened to was decapitated on live TV while police officers stood a good distance away so they didn't get hurt.

Instead of a body bomb as in this POS, the true story has the victim with a neck collar bomb.

Here is the Wiki on the real victim (other than people watching the movie):

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Brian_Douglas_Wells

reply

Did you actually read your own link to the story. The so called "victim" was involved in the planning of the robbery

reply

That happens a lot on here. People will post things that they think "prove" their point but it ends up actually hurting it.

I can't remember the thread (or movie the thread was from) but a while back someone said that 60% of all gays have AIDS then posted a "study" that actually said of all the people that have it 60% are gay. Which is COMPLETELY different than what he was arguing.

People really need to read their links before posting them. I think they are secretly hoping that "we" see a link and think "Oh BLEEP! This guy must know what he's talking about b/c he posted a link. I don't really want to read a link. I concede."

reply

OP - you're a loser.

reply

Why?

reply

OP - get a life and stop trolling IMDb. There are trolls 1,000 times better than you. Get lost.

reply

OP - you're a pimp.
thank you for putting perfectly into words what i've been thinking.
everything you said is %100 accurate.

oh, and edju and jDriftyx82
your terse meaningless posts have typical troll characteristics....
you know what i mean?

reply

Well clearly you're mad so I guess he trolled you?

reply

they don't have an answer as to why.
they call you stupid then they go to some other message board and call someone else stupid.

reply

OP - you're a loser

Why?

Who knows? Maybe you were born that way. Maybe it was environment. Maybe you chose to be a loser or made a conscious effort. Maybe you were touched inappropriately. Without more details, we couldn't know why.

To Love and win is the best thing. To Love and lose, the next best.

omg you guys are idiots. He isn't trolling. Did you not read the last statement of his post. I thought he was trolling at first but then I realized he was making a joke at the end. He has no intention of boycotting the movie. He thought it was hilarious.

Thanks for the laugh.

I'm confused as to who this is directed at. If it is me (the OP), then here is my response:

I agree with you 100%. I wanted to say everything you just said to the people complaining on here about the "sensitivity" of this movie's plot. I chose to do this through the subtle art of sarcasm and overexaggeration. I'm sorry that you misconstrued my attempt at humor as me actually believing the horse sh*t I was slinging.

Let's be clear: I liked this movie and don't find it the least bit controversial. My first post is a joke. Who in their right mind would actually be offended by Finding Nemo anyway?

I know I am late to the game on this because I just saw the movie and the imdb posts, but you do realize how few people understand the art of sarcasm and acerbic wit? It was very obvious to me what the post was about but that last line (I went expecting an inflammatory comedy and got 83 minutes of laugh instead or something to that effect) had me in absolute stitches.

Just remember your audience. A person posted they were excited about the film being in Grand Rapids where the person grew up. The first response was nasty; the second was a positive comment to which the next poster had to criticize and correct; the poster after that then said the film wasn't in the town they said. As you can see, posts devolve to just nastiness like Drano down a clogged sink. Down and down and Eastbound and Down (hehe).

Way to get the joke the "OP" originally intended. Talk about the need to get a life and make a valid contribution to this site, WTG...

Haha the effort you put into writing that was truly worth it.

hold on....this man is bitching about finding nemo bring back memories from when he was 5...really? its that bad....thats just sad man get help.

reply

To The_Lone_Cheese6 - You are a moron...sorry, but not only is it completely obvious that the OP was a joke, the poster flat-out SAYS it's a joke in a later post. Wow, do you just have no sense of humor?

reply

It is hard to believe that people don't realize this is a joke, but it's even harder to believe that there's actually people who are boycotting movies, such as this one, for reasons equally silly.

reply

Ah the art of IMDB threads. It's a beautiful disaster. You have the oblivious characters completely unaware of sarcasm or satire, even when it's painfully obvious.
Then you have the 'pretentious' English major who wishes to whittle down your post with their theory's of correct structure and delivery, maybe because they can't comprehend how, they themselves, can't be humorous.
This all wouldn't be perfectly balanced out without the character who throws in the derogatory insults, or how in some twisted obscure way, manages to relate the whole post to hating Obama.

Thanks IMDB community!

reply

This train wreck of a thread is obviously Obama's fault.

Trolling, you're doing it right.

reply

Where did you see trolling? OP just has got a point in sarcastic way, who feels offended or sees trolling, obviously has been stung by the OP truth.

reply

go *beep* yourself you stupid son of a bitch! noone gives a *beep* about what happened to you in your life. you're just ruining this movie for everyone else. But I'll boycott a movie. I'll boycott inception ONLY if you reenact the scene where his wife kills herself!

reply

Ouch, I am in so much pain right now. Why? Because your stupidity literally knocked me to the floor. I was literally assaulted by your stupidity. The sole fact that people like you have the freedom to recreate, and pass your genetic material on to a successive generation, is also the reason why our world is failing, and eventually the human race will cease to exist.

read the post all the way through. IT might help to realize what he was really saying or rather not saying.
