Rude Chicks

Remember the rude chick who yelled at him not to take their picture and that she would f-ing break his camera? I hope someone caught up to them and told them who he was. They would probably welcome having their picture taken then!

I liked that bit. People sometimes do get quite angry when you're photographing them on the street. Cunningham's reaction towards those two chicks was very amusing. Overall a very good documentary and a very funny one too.

I'm sure he's used to it and it doesn't really bother him. I read in his expression that it happens every now and then and you just have to move on to the next person.

My father's an illustrator and back in the days when he didn't own a car, he would sit on buses and draw random people's portraits. He got his share of rude reactions too. You just have to roll with it and not talk back to those people, they have the right to not get their pictures taken.

I wondered if they thought he was just a dirty old man or something. (I also wondered if he still used the photo.) He still kept a smile on his face. It could be that even if they knew it was for the paper they wouldn't want it in there.

Interesting that he doesn't get releases or anything.

How polite is it to be photographed by a stranger who doesn't ask permission?

reply

You are in public, you can be photographed.

It's certainly legal, but is it polite?
