PREDICTION? A WINNER AT SXSW, + SPIRIT AWARDS
I was lucky enough to get to see a sneak peek at this gem.
There are no exploding helicopters, or cool CGI special effects.
There isn't even a Brangelina-type sex symbol "super-couple"
to keep the ladies happy. But trust me... once you see this film,
you will forget any of those things ever existed. This film is so intimately
crafted and performed that it makes you want to crawl into the screen
and give each character either a hug, or a sock in the jaw. I've never CARED
about imaginary people in my entire life. This is not to be missed, and it is
surely the first in a long line of award-winning films for the genius writer/director
(Robbie Pickering), the DP (Steve Calitri), and the star-- Rachael Harris.
Yes, she's funny. We all know that. What we DIDN'T know is that right as you are laughing
she can break your heart in the very next breath. The movie left
me thinking "God... who could I set Linda (the charctaer she plays) up with?
There must be a great guy I know who would love her." Matt O'Leary is also genius.
The chemistry between Harris and O'Leary is remarkable. Their performances are so
generous and almost unnervingly naked that they are the kind of performances that will
stay with me for the rest of my life- like scenes from my own family that I sometimes wish
I could forget, but wind up holding more dear with every year that passes. Long story short? WOW.
