Filmed in Mexico because of cheaper labor?

Filmed in Mexico because of cheaper labor...THE IRONY!

reply

Exactly they should have hired a white actor to play the lead role... Hollywood is so screwed up hiring a Mexican to play the lead role because of cheap labor

Someday you'll see the true irony in your comment.

Cheap mon, cheap!

Uh baby U 4got to pull out. 9 months later, can U pull this "bleep" baby outta me, do that @ least!

They filmed it here in Hermosillo, Sonora because they felt like it looked a lot like it did in California in the 60s. I know because I live here.. and lived here when they was filming and thats what the director said!

Regardless of the location issue, the statement still holds true, it is ironic. The one movie to push for immigrants rights and dignity is the one movie that went to Mexico and received the benefit of lower cost. Big marketing mistake.

Think of an independent film as a small business. It was produced on a shoe string budget. There's a big difference between an independent film finding the cheapest cost of production possible and freaking Sony or Paramount avoiding a union crew and using slave labor when of course they could easily afford to pay the assistants and extras $30/hr.

reply

Exactly. As you said, they had a shoestring budget so they didn't have the money to make it here in the states. Plus, as someone else said, Mexico today probably resembles California in the 60s more than any place in this country.
