Another damn boxing film?
Am I the only one who thinks boxing movies are really out of fashion already? Theyre all just too predictable and cliché. As an MMA fan I think an MMA movie would sell better today than a boxing one.

shareI think it's well-worn and doesn't need to be rehashed. This film looks like it offers nothing in the way of surprises.
shareThis movie will be more than just a boxing movie. It chronicles the life of Vinny and his spirit of never quitting. A true story about a man who defied the odds.
shareThis is the narrative of literally every boxing film.
shareIt goes far beyond boxing and I am sorry you feel this way. I urge you to see beyond the fact that Vinny was a boxer and see the story behind a man who wouldn't give up at life when he could have. I think stories about ppl who chose not to bow out in their life and choose to take the hard path and not the easy one is a great story that we need to see more examples of in cinema.
shareRight? I thought jasonfandrich was being sarcastic until I read his reply to you lol.
shareDefying odds? Yeah totally not like Southpaw, Almost every Rocky movie, The Fighter, or Cinderella Man right?

Yeah, because Never Back Down proved that people will flock to see an MMA movie.

It made a world wide box office of USD41 million which isn't so bad considering it cost 20 million to make (for whatever) reason. I had to look it up as I had never even heard about the film before.

Death is the standard breach for a complex prize.
I'm the other guy that saw Never Back Down... and all two of us loved it!!
shareas a boxing fan, I can't complain lol
don't like mma though
alright, alright, alright
As a fan of both sports I feel a Boxing film will always do better box office wise. MMA films most of the time have a B movie feel to them, think MMA doesn't have the mass appeal that Boxing does.
shareAnd it's not as like... ingrained into the social consciousness.
Non boxing fans can have an easier time relating to a boxing movie than an MMA movie I think.
Mma did we not have them bad movies come out already ?
As for enough boxing movies and having enough i agree and disagree.
We have had enough boring predictable rocky films.
Yet when it comes to this and southpaw they are very different and have a new story.
Some people dont like these as they are not enough like rocky but thats the reason most others do
Creed was a smash hit and Oscar nominee...
shareI bet $20 there will be a workout montage of him getting ready for a big fight
