Some questions about indian culture

I am from Sweden and found this movie by lucky chance. And I loved it. However there were a couple of things we didn't get.

Who was Munni and why was she in the movie?

Why couldn't Makkhi get married after his brother hijacked the wedding?

Still a great movie, I will definately watch more Bollywood films.

1) Thank you for liking the movie. Although its a big hit in India, some people (like me) do not like it

2) Munni was the name of the woman dancing during the song. She was in the movie just for the song. Its (what we call in India) an item number. Sexy women are used in the movies to publicise the movie and get more people to watch it

3) There was no restriction on Makkhi marrying after his brother hijacked the marriage. However, he felft very insulted and thats why he didnt want to marry in the same place

Thanks for answering my questions. These indian films look so good in HD, it's a joy to watch them.

When Chulbul apologized for beating up his brother, he grabbed his ears. Then when he slapped him outside the court and apologized again, he grabbed his ears again. What does this mean in Indian culture?

Film is based on a Police officer in Uttar Pradesh. In eastern Uttar Pradesh there is a culture of Naach(Dance Done by professional dancers/prostitutes) in Parties etc. Also people go to see Mujra(you may google it) in many part of India. Most of the people who watch these dances are thought as bad/corrupt. Bollywood depicts it in several movies and now days its called item Number. Here in dabangg you can see main villain watching the item number and enjoying it. You may find these kind of songs in most of Indian movies where social evils are shown.

Don't take Rohit's description for why he couldn't get married. He was right about the other stuff but he didn't get married because his to-be-father-in-law did not want to get his daughter married at a place where he was insulted. He was embarrased by Chulbul's intrusion and doing what he did. Its a big disgrace in Indian culture, you just don't do what Chulbul did.
