Ava Duvernay

There is so much hype surrounding her.
Just look at the internet blogs, articles and comments.
There has been so much talk and push for her to get her into anything. Marvel, Star Wars. And now she has been confirmed to direct a DC movie. But A Wrinkle in Time was horrible and she showed she failed. Why do people keep pushing her? What are her qualities? Why does she get second chances ?

Horrible is an overstatement. The reviews were mixed, but some people genuinely liked the film. I don't think she failed in achieving her creative vision. It was just different than people were expecting and didn't appeal to everyone. Even if you think the movie is horrible or a failure, most directors have done bad movies that were poorly received. I think she definitely has talent and vision.

This movie is SO bad, DuVernay achieved the seemingly impossible.

Ava DuVernay experimentally found the answer to the question “Could a celebrated black female director make a big budget film in 2018 that is super into diversity and inclusive messaging, but is of such execrable cinematic quality that it still manages to get a negative score on Rotten Tomatoes?” I honestly would have thought the answer was “no”, but but she managed to pull it off!

And I am not anti-diversity. I LOVED “Moonlight”. But that movie was a 9/10 and this one is a 1/10, a score I give out very rarely, like years between instances of doing so.
