Unanswered question


The thing that made the whole thing a bit silly is why didn't Miyage just buy Snehemoy a ticket to Japan to live with her for a time. Snehemoy's aunt was in good health and could take care of herself. Snehemoy's problem was money, which Miyage probably could have helped with. The fact that they were married and went 17 years without meeting goes way beyond the willing suspension of disbelief.

They said at the start of the film that Miyage lived in a house she couldn't afford to keep properly maintained, so she can't have had much free money. I don't find it difficult to accept a western character in a film who can't afford to ship someone from India willy-nilly, and that's without even getting into immigration restrictions.
