Routine?

The police seemed to deal with this sort of thing on a regular basis. The two cops at the morgue weren't particularly surprised to be shown the finger that had been pulled out of the father's stomach and when the gay chap escaped and found the two uniformed cops they immediately put out a call ("code 14 in progress" or something like that) which seemed to suggest that this was a normal thing for the police to have to deal with - all the cops who heard it seemed to know what it meant. Seemed a bit odd. Was it suggesting that cannibalism is not uncommon in Mexico?

Yes, I agree with your comment. There was one or two other lines tossed around that seemed to suggest it may not have been that uncommon, besides the fact that the mother almost seemed to boast of her family's lifestyle to the group of whores when dumping the body on the street corner (of all places), as you do. It just didn't seem to be that much of a secret.🐭
