morgue scene

did anyone notice that the mortician in the beginning of the film is the same guy that was in the morgue scene in "Cronos", .... and actually he pretty much had the same dialogue lines....how strange is that...this must be the tribute or something? can anyone explain this?

I've just noticed this as well, but I can't seem to find anyone who knows what's up with that.

According to the director of the film (in the audio commentary of the Mexican DVD) the scene is actually a reenactment and a tribute to the morgue scene in "Cronos" including almost the entire dialogue of the former scene.

The idea was having "Tito" (the mortician) still working at the same morgue some 15-20 years after he embalmed the vampire's corpse and showing that things haven't changed very much (because now he is embalming a cannibal).

Had not noticed, good catch

The most comical scene in this generally way too serious film.🐭
