My one problem with this movie.

In the scene where the two painters are on the scaffold discussing ways to die and then Sharktopus attacks them, the one painter screams, "Not like this!" Why would he say that? Getting killed by a sharktopus is obviously the most epic way to die ever.

Not mentioning his family would get extra pay/insurance money if he died in the line of duty!

You only had one problem with this movie??? Why did flin come out of the water in the pool wearing a sombrero? Why didn't Eric Roberts get to change his shirt? How come Flynn continued to use the same gun to attck the creature even though it did no good, even when fired at close range?

I am guessing that horrible line was supposed to be in response to the painter's earlier discussion about the danger of the job. Really weak if that is true. And why weren't they wearing any safety equipment? Trust me, in California that would never happened with all of our regulations!

You answered your own question. Sharktopus is does not take place in California, it is in Mexico. People in Mexico play by their own rules, and if that means continueing to do yoga while a monster eats the other people on the beach, then so be it.

The painter's were on the side of the Queen Mary. I belive that's still parked in Long Beach, CA. The film started off in Santa Monica, so it was on it's way down to Mexico.

Not sure if safety regulations apply to maritime painters.

The line might've been better if he'd said - "Oh no, not like... oh wait, this is pretty cool!" Maybe when the anniversary blu-ray Director's Cut comes out...

The only problem I has was the multiple uses of "octopi", even by supposed marine experts.

I know practically nothing about the octopus, but even I know the correct pluralisation of octopus is octopodes. Even octopuses is acceptable. Octopi, however, is not.

Feel free to look at the plural forms of the word. It might enlighten you.

I do find it hilarious when people go to the effort of looking things up that they don't actually know, just in the hopes of proving somebody wrong. I just looked at your link, rikerbot. Yes, it's listed under plural. However, scroll down to Word Origin and History. It might enlighten you.

Here, I'll copy and paste to save you the trouble.

genus name of a type of eight-armed cephalopod mollusks, from Gk. oktopous "eight-footed," from okto "eight" (see eight) + pous "foot." Proper plural is octopodes, though octopuses probably works better in English. Octopi is from mistaken assumption that -us is the L. noun ending that takes -i in plural.

And I quote: Proper plural is octopodes, though octopuses probably works better in English. And I further quote: Octopi is from mistaken assumption that -us is the L. noun ending that takes -i in plural. Notice the modifier "mistaken". So, even though it's widely used, which is why it was listed under plural, it's wrong.

My one problem with this movie is that I don't think you can make a 1/2 Octopus 1/2 Shark. Other than that it's airtight.
