A new school "Breakfast Club"

I loved this movie. I was pleasantly surprised by it. It grabbed me in the first 15 minutes.

What it reminded me of was The Breakfast Club. It was a good attempt to try to capture the flavor of urban New York youths.

I know there will be a million critics of this movie, but it was brilliant, simply brilliant.

I totally agree. Ok, this will get a little long.

Background on my viewing experience:

I've seen a good chunk of it. I started DVRing it the minute I put it on. I just knew it was good. I came in 20 minutes late, and had to put off watching the ending for now, since I had to go somewhere. My Mom told me what happened though.

It airs again on 906 Starz InBlack (Frontier lineup) on September 3rd.

Quality of the film:
My Mom and I watched it together, and we absolutely loved it. A slice of life movie with great pacing, and break out actors that keep you watching. The script is also well written, and you feel like you're in the head of a teenager.

Relatability:
Like The Breakfast Club this movie can reach different types of audiences.
I'm a 22 year old college student from a Connecticut suburb, and my Mom is middle aged. We are also both white. I've been to Manhattan, and have only been through the Bronx. That may have influenced my love for this movie. However, these characters are defintely like people I've met throughout my life. Some of them being black or latino like the characters, and some of them being white.

I know that other people in Connecticut would definitely appreciate this film, and I think it captures New York well. It's cool that they chose a different borough than Manhattan. Some people don't even know about the whole 5 boroughs thing.

I don't know if it would reach someone outside of the tri-state area. I've been to a few different states, and the personalities from this area aren't always there. I also loved the accents. It's our signature thing.
