was the budget really 90mil?

If this movie was made for 90 million dollars then I have to question the studio executives.

It's kind of unheard of in this market of cgi/spinoff/comicbook movies that a title with no prior background or large following had warranted 90 mill.

Maybe it's a type-o on IMDB and it meant to say 9 Million or maybe 19 million (which would make more sense, 19)

90 million though, wow these executives really believe that the masses are retarded if they thought this was going to score that big at the box office

If you think they could have made a movie with those special effects and Vin Diesel and Michael Caine for 19 millions, you know nothing about movie making. Go to bed.

My guess is they were counting on Vin Diesel's success from the Furious and Riddick series to carry over.

thats a lot of money for such mediocre cgi.

I must say I thought the exact same thing as the OP, seeing the budget on Wikipedia -- it says 90 million there as well, the source being Box Office Mojo, so it seems legit.

So far it's earned about 110 mill worldwide, not a major catastrophe perhaps, but still not good business. And I have to say whoever OK'd that budget can only blame themselves. I have nothing against Vin Diesel, but his box office history is simply far from stable enough to justify something like this, especially as the OP said in a movie with zero foundation in the public. I'd say spending anything more than 30 - 40 mill on this project sounds absolutely insane if they hoped to make money.

IMDb-boards would be less confusing if people would mark their signatures clearly.
