I usually hate people who complain about this but..
I think it's funny how some of the people have VERY British accents and some of them have Italian ones.

I also hate it when people make a big deal of the accents. As far as I'm concerned, it's the least important part of a movie or TV production, most of the time. I do feel that it is important if it is part of the character's overall persona. For example, Poirot's Belgian French accent is a big part of his total character, and goes along with his other physical and personality traits. David Suchet says that he worked on it for months to get it just right. But for Zen I just don't see it making any difference to the overall experience of watching it.
In real life, you never really know exactly what kind of accent you are going to run into. I live in west Texas, and I hear people say it as way-est Tay-ex-is. But I also hear people say it as wast (rhymes with last) Taxes. We have people around here speaking with many different accents.
Maybe Zen grew up in England, we don't really know. Or maybe he had an English babysitter. Maybe one or both of his parents were English. Maybe his favorite TV show as a kid was English.
We're already being asked to suspend disbelief in that, even though this show is happening in Rome, nobody is speaking Italian. So the accent they're speaking that English with just doesn't make any difference to me. I just feel like it's a waste of time to care about it so much.

Could happen. So why does 90% of the other "characters" have British accents? The 2 ministers. All of the detectives who've had lines so far. And most of the criminals.
Oh, wait. We've met his mother. So both of his parents were not English. And he's constantly reminding us that he's Venetian, so I'm guessing he grew up in Venice.
But for Zen I just don't see it making any difference to the overall experience of watching it.

I have no prob if a bunch of Brits play Italians, with Brit accents, but not with 2 real Italians playing with real Italian accents.
If he's raised elsewhere--fine, but most of the rest have Brit accents.
