I don't get the hate

I absolutely don't get the hate... I don't like this movie, I LOVE it !

It's one of my favourite space opera ever, and I've watched pretty much everything in the genre... I think this is a masterpiece in the leagues of Star Wars and the Fifth Element.

I mean the story is awesome, it's full of action, it's very fast paced, the SFX are beautiful, the OST is perfect...

I'm very sad to read all this hate, same as John Carter again, a wonderful movie hated with no reason :(

I though I don't agree with it being great it was pretty good. CGI was stunning but it seemed the editing was choppy.

I'd bet they had to skim it down and the directors cut will be great.

reply

I agree, just watched it and thought it was one of the best films I've seen in along time.

BTW I also loved John Carter and can never understand the hate for that either!

reply

I like JC a lot, I couldn't watch this film.

reply

I don't get the hate either. Loved the movie and will be getting the Bluray soon.

I have noticed though that the running time on the home movie version is the same as the theatre version so I don't think we'll be getting a Director's cut or extended edition.

Thank you for your thread Dr Nico. I too enjoyed this movie with popcorn and Jr Mints. Good summertime fare. I was afraid that Tatum's ears were going to ruin it as they looked very distracting in the previews. But it was a fun romp all around. I am sorry there won't be a sequel to play more in this universe.

Good, solid, fun science fiction(so was John Carter.)
I could use a lot more movies like this.

Semper Contendere Propter Amoram et Formam

reply

No kidding. I liked John Carter too. They totally mucked up the advertising for that movie!

The story is actually pretty good. The execution of the movie (script, casting, acting, directing, editing, makeup, dialogue etc.) was horrendous. I've never seen a movie fail on so many levels.

reply

I agree. I think some people were expecting too much. I thought it was good.

I too loved this movie as well as John Carter like everyone else here. JA was exciting, cool story, great effects and I love Mila. There's just too many haters in the world these days.

reply

Exactly, I agree!

Not close to the original Star Wars trilogy, but I'm biased. :) Also too tired to expound more, so maybe later, but let it be known that the original Star Wars trilogy is totally epic (in the literate sense of the term) and possesses one of the greatest scores known to the modern film genre. Michael Giacchino doesn't come close to John Williams.
