I find Garcia's obssession with 'Earl' unhealthy now.

He needed to get over that. It last four seasons. He really began referencing it in the fourth season of THIS SHOW. He's had a successful career.

I kind of agree. At first I enjoyed the references, but the writers are kind of over doing it now. I like MNIE, but I got over its cancellation. Really it was better that it was cancelled, because by the end it was losing steam. Four seasons was a good run for it.

Also, it isn't like that cancellation killed his career. He has this show and two pilots in development at CBS. So it appears like he is doing all right.

On another note, I wonder if he will reference this show like his does Earl in the future. There is a good chance that season four of RH will be its last, so he could possible make this his new Earl in his next series.

I dont see it that way. I think MNIE should've had a fifth and final season. I think it was robbed of a proper ending. My thinking is, if a show is on the decline, that's fine, but instead of cancellation, it is always better to go out with a bang. We didn't get that with MNIE, so for that reason, I love seeing the references in RH. The reunion episode of RH was brilliant and was great to see the cast back together. As a fan, I felt like we needed some closure. The references in RH help with that.

I don't follow the politics behind the scenes usually, so I'm not sure exactly where things stand, but RH was just renewed for a 4th season, and I don't see any mention of it being the final season from anyone official, so I don't see how there's a good chance it'll be the last. I feel like there's a bigger following for RH than MNIE and I'd like to see RH go on for at least a few more seasons. I feel like at least 5 would be good, but I'd love 6 or 7 I think. I know that's thinking extremely long term in this industry, but I don't think it's out of reach with this series.

But maybe I'm just fond of this series because it's 1 of only 3 sitcoms I watch (Modern Family and Big Bang Theory being the other 2). I feel like there just isn't much quality programming anymore, and I'm maybe putting too much stock into RH, but I really want it to succeed and for the writing to stay top notch like it is. Hopefully it will receive the respect it deserves from the bigwigs and be around for a while longer, as well as having a proper send off once it's run its course.

I kind of like the references to MNIE. I LOVED the episode with the cast on it. It has to be among my favorite RH episodes.

Fourth season? S4 is not even out yet? Am i misunderstanding something here?

I find you to be mentally unstable. The fans have shown a lot of support, especially when Burt kicked that dude in the nuts for cancelling the show.

Do your research or at least watch the show before spewing such ignorance. MNIE has been referenced since the PILOT. Do you need a list?

I used to care, but I take a pill for that now.

The references have grown more overt. Not sure if you even noticed.

They just had a reunion show, and that should be that.

I think most people seem to think that FOX is only holding out for for seasons to have a good syndication package. Getting the number of episodes close to 100. Hate to say it but the creator exiting and the low ratings.. I was shocked but glad the show is coming back. I would love more seasons but expecting the next to be the end of the series.

reply

Well, it would help the ratings if FOX would move it to another time slot. Going up against TV's number 1 rated show is freakin dumb.

Well it's funny that u mention it when he was doing earl he's mentioned yes dear a bunch of time in my name is earl. Mind you not as much as he does in raising hope but he's always done it

reply

Well, as a fan of Earl, I love the references...they just confuse me...sometimes they reference MNIE as a TV show ("karma, like that TV show with the Mallrats guy you keep trying to get me to like" and the commercial for it during the Inside Probe episode) and sometimes they reference Earl like he exists in their world (such as Earl's list referenced on the news, Patty, and the Earl J. Hickey Memorial Nursing Home)

reply

I completely agree. Love the references but they were confusing. Some actors played the same characters on both shows while some played different characters. Earl existed as a tv show in the RH universe but then Earl would be a part of the RH universe.

It's like how it is with the Dan Schneider universe for his Nickelodeon shows. On iCarly and Victorious, they said that Drake & Josh was a TV show, but then characters from said shows appeared on those shows.
