Not a bad film at all but...a little more by the numbers than I'd expected

After seeing the trailers, very well made ones at that, I really expected something more...memorable, I guess. I love Jackie Chan and hope this movie ends up being well worth the investment, but after a couple months of waiting to see this, here it is a week after viewing and I'm having a hard time recalling many of the plot points. It was just kind of a paint by numbers action film that, when the credits started rolling, I couldn't help but think, "That was it, huh?".

I guess maybe its disappointing to be disappointed, I really thought this was going to be a movie with a lot of "wow" factor in it. And coupled with the feeling that you've watched yet another film that didn't measure up anywhere near the bar set by the trailer, I think its hard not to eventually get a little gun shy.
The quality of trailers seems to have gone up considerably from decades past, but when representing movies that represent more of the same, the disconnect between the hype and the eventual reality is a pattern that's starting to become a little wearing. For whatever action devices and Jackie Chan maneuvers that end up making this movie memorable, its just as much memorable for being the latest example of that kind of tedium, or at least in my own memory.
