Such a great choice! When I wrote the book (almost 25 years ago!) I modelled the character of Sean Morrisson (the youngish IRA guy) on Pierce Brosnan, I think because he was so good as an IRA killer in The Long Good Friday. But the years have gone by and now he's perfect for the role of Liam Hennessy, the IRA's 60-something legal brains. Funny how life works out!

if the author of the book approves the cast so it bodes the best!
Great book, great cast, great director!

Wow, that's really interesting. I'm currently working on the film and can totally see Morrison as a younger Pierce Brosnan!

That was my immediate thought as Brosnan appeared on screen.

I loved "Long Good Friday," and Brosnan in his first movie role added a lot to it... with no lines!
This role looked like that earlier character, older and politically savvy.

I am sure the director, maybe even Brosnan, felt the same way: See Brosnan's look out the window of the car near the end. It's an older, sadder, wiser version of his look at Bob Hoskins from the front seat of the car at the end of "Long Good Friday."

It's like the destiny of his earlier character has been met.

I may have to watch "Long Good Friday" again. An extra perk is a look at a young, sexy Helen Mirren!

Here's the end scene (SPOILER)
