Totally underrated (spoilers)

Starts off as 10,000 BC / Quest For Fire-like caveman movie, turns into a post-apocalyptic quasi-medieval movie (Doomsday) with hordes of super-fast and strong zombies (I Am Legend).

One reason it's being trashed and dismissed because for a lot of people high production values are prerequisite for a good movie. Actually, the sets are pretty good, the action scenes are well done, and it's an interesting, distinct take on some familiar themes. Plus it has a believable villain, a love triangle that isn't just rote, and Sean Bean.

It reminded me of the classic short story By The Waters of Babylon. Head and shoulders above the typical basic cable science fiction film.
