RIPPED OFF 90'S CARTOON KING ARTHUR + THE KNIGHTS OF JUSTICE

I guess they figure that people watching Disney Channel today (even if now and then like me) are just kids or teens of today, to whom the 90's was "eons ago" LOL. I'm 30 and I have friend who have kids and I watch Disney Channel with them a few times. This movie Avalon High instantly took me back to 1992 and 1993 Sunday mornings. The cartoon was KING ARTHUR AND THE KNIGHTS OF JUSTICE. You can see episodes and the intro on Youtube. The plot was that football captain Arthur King and his football team become King Arthur and the Knights of the Round Table - and they have to fight Morgana and Mordred, the bad guys. I was between the ages of 12 and 14 at that time in 1992- 1993. That cartoon was fun and I liked it ok, although I found it to be boring later on in it's later episodes.

They figured that no one would notice how for Avalon High they easily they ripped off this same plot - high school football team that become Camelot's Knights of the Round Table as led by King Arthur. The only twist is that the girl in the movie is King Arthur.

But so what ? Clearly a rip off with the obvious similarity - the high school football team that become Camelot knights.

So there you go.

PS don't call me old just because I was a teenager of the 90's (also I remember being a small kid in the 80's which were my favorite times!)

Take it up with Meg Cabot, not the Disney Channel. This movie is based off of her book by the same title.

O God ! LOL So Meg Cabot probably saw Knights of Justice cartoon, then came up with a far too similar storyline and maybe even by accident. It happens a lot. Sometimes you think you've come up with an original idea and it turns out that it's been done before. The thing is though that the high school football team becoming Knights of Camelot is what that 90's cartoon was all about. It really does look like she just took it from the cartoon. If Meg Cabot is in her late 20's or in her 30's like me, then she did see this cartoon as a girl.

I also got the same feeling from the movie Hook from the early 90's. Steven Spielberg claims it was an original idea but the same premise of "Peter Pan growing up and forgetting who he was" was on an episode of the 90's Fox 11 cartoon Peter Pan And The Pirates.

Um... I just took a look at the TV show's plot line on Wikipedia and this movie (and the book it's based off of) sound NOTHING like that TV show.

The only similarity between them is the whole King Arthur idea and people have been retelling that story and using it in different forms for years.

According to the plot summary on Wikipedia, in the TV show the characters actually went to Camelot which didn't happen in the book and didn't happen in the movie until the very end during the battle.

The book (and the movie) are a simple retelling of the Arthur story in modern times and the show doesn't seem to be that at all. And, yes... I did watch some episodes on Youtube and I really see no similarities other than the King Arthur idea which I'm pretty sure isn't even copyrightable.

I didn't say they were 100 percent the same. And so you can't see the same scenario of football players at a high school turning into Knights of the Round Table ? LOL That is the most obvious and glaring similarity. Come on now LOL

Modern day version of old myths and legends is not a knew concept. Percy Jackson is the best example that comes to mind. So no, I don't think this is "clearly a rip off" despite having a few similarities.
