Ok I can deal with the plot Twist (Spoiler Alert)

I can deal with King Arthur being a girl, but the movie took like half a second to address the issue I have a problem with.

If Allie is King Arthur, then where does Wil fit in?

I dont mind making changes from books to movies, but I hate it when they leave huge plot holes because they are rewriting a lot of the story.

It would have been nice to name him as one of the former knights. My personal guess would be Gallahad, who was the greatest and most virtuous of the knights. I suppose they thought it was not necessary to identify which one he was so long as they established that he WAS a knight of the Round Table. After all, when Allie was Arthur and in love with Guinevere, he was just another comrade in arms.

Actually though, I would have taken a different approach, though it probably would have confused the kids. As I watched the film, my thought was that somehow Arthur came back in two people, each with different aspects of his character. So they literally would have been soul-mates.

Oh my god, that is brilliant. I'm going to pretend that was their intention in order to mentally deal with how disappointed I was with this movie. Still disappointed though. What I liked in the book was that Elaine was used and details of Arthurian legend. It's like they didnt think kids could handle Arthurian legend outside of the most popular characters. And they ofcourse had to play the adults vs kids card.

But what I found more upsetting then them glossing over how Will fits in...is how quickly Allie believed they were reincarnations and the inclusion of magic. There was no overt magical displays and Ellie found it hard to believe. It was deeper and depended more on the characters inner strength in the book. I can like the movie only if I pretend it has nothing to do with the book. And I admit I enjoyed the bootlegged Colin Morgan Merlin.

Actually I thought the same thing :)
Too bad they didn't do it.
Though I never read the book (and I am Meg's humble fan :D) I have to say that I kinda liked the so-very-much-hated twist in the end. It wasn't as obvious like in the book (again - haven't read it but ppl in here keep repeating it).
And I really liked that Marco wasn't the bad guy like everyone thought he was.
And I had a feeling about this teacher from the beginning. He was kinda... off.

It was such an horrible ending to an otherwise enjoyable film that I'm trying to gloss over it and pretend that it never happened as I love the idea of them being soulmates after Arthur is reincarnated in them both.

Awesome alternate story which would have made more sense instead of what they gave us.

i thought it was dumb how they set up the whole Will/Jen/Lance thing only to have Ally be King Arthur. what was the point of the love triangle? how was it going to make Ally lose her faith in everything and everyone? She didn't even know them. That was the only problem i had with the plot twist. It made the whole thing seem like a waste of time. It was a major plot point for the movie up until that point and then it didn't even matter in the end coz Will wasn't Arthur. Very stupid.
