one out of three.

Just my opinion of course, but I thought it a shame that I had to sit through the first two stories to get to the gem that was "Bitch". The first was just too straight-forward and obvious. Seemed like a waste of time to even put it to film. Nothing remotely original there. And the second was like a juvenile joke stretched to a nonsensical half hour. Totally worth it for the third though. "Bitch" would probably be seen by a lot more people if it were released on its own. I don't want to be rude and recommend that anyone skip the first two thirds of the movie, but in retrospect, I would have... What are your thoughts?

reply

I thought the 1st one started promisingly but became stupid as soon as it became supernatural.

The 2nd one I didn't completely follow and really nothing compelled me to re-watch it to unravel what the hell was going on.

I agree the third story was definitely the best and lacked the silliness of the first 2. It left me wanting more.

Eh "Bitch" was probably the weakest of the three. No real horror either, it was just some dumb love story mixed with S and M. Very weak.

Both second and third story were a bit too long as well. Only the first story felt like they were trying to aim for horror. All three stories as a whole were kind of meh.

All in all, it wasn't very good.

What are you talking about ? What kind of man are you if you don't like seeing dogs eating a girl's ass while she's alive ?

reply

that was not shown in the version that I saw. Just sounds of her screaming which could be from the fobia and not dogs actually tearing any flesh. The dogs were probably licking her ass and other parts...

reply

Yeah, I didn't see anything graphic either. There were some sounds that could be construed as the dogs ripping into her flesh, but it was largely left open to interpretation. Anyway, the first seemed like a metaphor on classism that didn't know how to end. The second seemed dense and convoluted in its display of sexuality as a disease from which to be profited. The last short was probably the best just on the merit of directorial style. It's sort of cheap to use film lenses to display an emotion when the actors should be able to portray it with more precision. Though, with the limited time for character development that was probably the best option.

SPOILERS!

As apposed to wanting to see a huge long penis on a woman in the 2nd? you don't "see" anything. Whether they eat her or *beep* her is open to interpretation, either way, she got what was coming to her. If you are really that disturbed then you ain't seen nothing really. For gods sakes don't watch Salo or Pink Flamingos then!

Bitch Was by far the best. It was sexual, emotional and the finale was brilliant. As a lover of revenge movies this is definitely the better one. The first I liked, mainly because the acting was good. The 2nd was weird, I did get it, I'm guessing theres some sort of political or social message in their somewhere. Each one could really stand alone, I can imagine that the 3rd would get a following somewhere.

Agreed completely. If the first two segments were up to the quality of the third, this anthology would have been a masterpiece.

reply

The third was outstanding. The first was mediocre, familiar and unimpressive. The second was bizarre but not disturbing. I didn't really understand it and I don't care enough to try.

The third was brilliant. Simon Rumley should make some more talented friends.

6-6 for the first two, but only for genre fans.

10 for the third, deserves all the awards in the world. ive rarely seen total power exchange depicted in such a believable fashion. i have some sadomasochistic tendencies and slipped in and out of similar scenarios before, unwillingly so with different degrees of enjoyment. it hit very close to home.

reply

Absolutely agree with OP. #3 was clearly the best but the other 2 were so BAD, it couldn't have saved it. I gave it a "3" and I think that's fair.

reply

I didn't dislike the first two that much, but Bitch is without a doubt a masterpiece imho. The track "Bitch" by composer Richard Chester has grown to be a favourite of mine as well.

Definitely check out "The Living and the Dead", too!!

Spoilers ahead.

I didn't mind the first segment. I thought it was pretty cool when the "victim" turns the tables on her captors.

I agree with everyone who said the 2nd segment sucks. I really can't describe how I feel about it except meh.

The 3rd one was good but the ending was disappointing. I would have liked to see the dogs tear her apart. It would have been a more satisfying ending considering the way she treated him.

Overall this movie falls into the so-so category.

reply

The ending wasn't meant to be satisfying, she didn't do anything wrong. The man was just a pathetic piece of *beep* who couldn't say no to his girlfriend, he'd rather kill her in the most horrific way possible as opposed to breaking up with her.

reply

I couldn't agree more. She WAS a bitch but she no way deserved that fate. The guy was a loser, just break up with her ffs.

reply

I enjoyed segments 1 & 3. 2 was okay just a bit cryptic in the storytelling, overall a decent film. 7/10

Look at the night sky, where does it end?

reply

The first story was interesting but the pay-off was telegraphed even though nothing was explained. It reminded me of the short stories of Clive Barker or Christopher Fowler. The second story was just plain weird and didn't really fit the trilogy and was like a William Burroughs wet dream. 'Bitch' was grim - whatever actually happened at the end was pretty disturbing and I am glad we don't actually see it. A strange collection. Glad I saw this film but it isn't on my "to buy" list.

agreed. watched this a little while ago and the only one that has stuck with me was Bitch.

I actually enjoyed the first two, much more. I agree that the first´s ending is too conventional. But the acting is superb and Holly Lucas is just spectacular.

The second is the most interesting and original for me. Just brutal the faith of the lead at the end.

Bitch was the least favorite of mine. I just didn´t care for either him (a total loser) or her (the title is a perfect description, for both actually). The conclusion isn´t satisfying at all and that end montage with the music, goes on for way too long.
