Has there been (or will there be) a theater release of Kon-Tiki in the US? I would really appreciate the chance to see this on the big screen.

Yes. Kon-Tiki will open in US theaters on April 26th.

Be warned: it is not the full, uncut version. The US release has been cut by roughly half an hour.

It has been cut 17 minutes to be exact, only because Harvey Weinstein wanted the film to be more fast paced.

Faster paced yes for an ADHD audience and never mind what's left on the cutting room floor.
