Pineapple on Fatu Hiva

Has anyone read Thor's Fatu Hiva book. Does he mention anything about a pineapple there.

What little I've read pineapple where introduced to Polynesia by the Spanish after discovering it in South America.

Sweet Potatoes or Yams on the other hand where supposedly prevalent in Polynesia when the first Europeans traveled there meaning that there must have been some contact between them and South Americans.
