Terminology question

All the descriptions of the movie state that the son had a brain tumor, and the operation caused "loss of short-term memory"

Do they really mean Anterograde Amnesia?

Like, in the movie Memento (don't worry, not a spoiler) the character says he has no short-term memory, but he is using the wrong term, as he has Anterograde Amnesia. This was intentional by Christopher Nolan, because the character could never learn the correct name for his condition, so he keeps calling it by the wrong name. But in this movie, it is the REVIEWERS who write the plot summary that keep saying he has "no short-term memory" - are they just using the wrong term? Does the young man have Anterograde Amnesia or some other condition I've never heard of that actually does cause loss of short-term memory?
