So ... Alice was, like, a ten year old hustler??? Playing the role of a daughter to wealthy, lonely old ladies, while pimping her mom out to amputee fetishists? And how did she find her prey - just hanging at the mall, tearfully asking people for dolls? She knew her mom was leaving and left her parrot to die? I really don't know what to say. This movie was very odd.

Alice didn't have anything to do with pimping her mother out. She just showed her where her mom needed to post/make contact, etc.
As for finding her prey, that's pretty much it. Just hanging out at the mall.However, I think she changes her MO for each victim.
The mother/daughter relationship was beyond dysfunctional, and Alice was more or less a budding psychopath, she didn't give a rat's ass about the bird.

I also didn't get this movie but I guess the parrot died because Alice was killed by Ann (aka crazy butterfly-lady) and there was nobody left to feed the bird.
