saw a screening of pilot

shatner nailed it. Incredibly funny, perfectly cast. The other lead seems fine. Sasso and Sullivan were very uninteresting and not even remotely funny though. every scene with them fell very flat. They also had no onscreen chemistry; not believable. Even still, Shatner makes the show worthwhile and i'd recommend checking it out.

I saw it too, MrPink, and it seemed like everyone in our group liked it. Who were Sasso and Sullivan? The older son and his wife? I looked at the casting on here but it's not included yet. If that's who you are talking about, I completely agree. I think that was the weakest links. I liked the younger son. The gal from MadTV or wherever it is I'm recognizing her from was completely annoying.

the part of Henry was recast, and major rewrites were done, and the pilot was reshot last night. the new Henry is much better for the role than Ryan Devlin, and there are some very funny lines, so you should still tune in in September...

I attended a screening with the original person playing Henry in July. I'm extremely unimpressed with the recast. The pilot I saw was much funnier, I'm a bit bummed. I would have watched it if they'd kept the original guy. I was looking forward to the show, I was disappointed at what ended up on tv.

i agree the original was better.

tonight's episode was by far the best of the series to this point though.

I agree with @MrPink.

Agreed. Tim was great. I think GLAAD recently ranked CBS last in having gay characters on TV, so Tassler said in July that she would be responding to this by adding more gay characters on CBS, including a recurring one on $#*! My Dad Says. It looks like it has worked out for the best here, the show is starting to find its footing I think.

reply

Ah, so the "maid" that Dad hired from the gay pancake place will stay? I was hoping this would be the case. He adds a nice flavor to the ensemble, the one guy who senses that underneath Dad is a decent guy.

Great development!
