WTF?Did i miss something?Did they ignore an entire storyline???

Didn't the bald son and his wife move into the home with Shatner? Don't they already have a dog? Tonight's episode has them getting a dog. Picking up Shatners old dogs items, to place around their house? Are they totally ignoring last weeks episode? or did the dog die? Did I miss something?

This is what happens when studio execs decide to air episodes in a different order than they were written/produced, regardless of how it might mess up the continuity in multi-episode story arcs.

I don't know whether there is some actual reason behind this, but it is a stupid thing to do regardless.

This show seems to be as rotten in continuity as Garry Unmarried!

Gamera is really neat... He is made of mystery meat!

Networks(or production companies) tend to schedule the better episodes to air first; so, maybe that's why this one was delayed. They "usually" try to pay attention to continuity, but obviously they failed miserably with "You Can't Handle The Truce". Production numbers don't always mean anything. A lot of episodes are not aired, or even meant to be aired, in the order they are filmed in, but in the case of this show, it looks like production numbers might have more importance. It really just depends on the production company. Sometimes shows are reshot so much that the original production order means nothing.

Cut them some slack. They're following the #1 show from last year in ages 18-49 (The Big Bang Theory), and they're up against a perenniel Emmy winner for best comedy (30 Rock). Additionally, they're replacing a show (Survivor) that was #1 in its time slot for ages 18-49. That's a pretty tall order for a show that's in its first season.

I watched two episodes on a flight. It was up against nothing. And it was still quite poor. I'm kinda surprised it lasted 18 episodes to be honest!

reply

i was just thinking the same thing. from the responses i see why now. still not sure how much longer this show will last.

reply

It's winning its time slot, but so were "Accidentally On Purpose", "Gary Unmarried", and "The New Adventures of Old Christine." Doesn't CBS own some cable channels? Can't they put their shows on them?

reply

I just now watched in on DVR...that's a real shame, too! How can nobody, be it an intern, script-writer, producer's assistant, limo driver or makeup artist--nobody notice and/or say something like, "Ummm...I just want to point out that if we air this episode as 'NEW,' we will completely DESTROY the continuity of this show."

I mean I really like(ed) the show...haven't heard/read anything about it being on the chopping block---WHAT GIVES???!!!

If the show runs a few years,I see this as being a point of contention for generations to come. In discussions in general and on internet boards & blogs!

"You remember when they screwed up inthe first season so badly?!"

The other thing that doesn't make sense,is when Ed visited their home that first time,he acted like he'd never seen the dog before.

If this show runs a few years, its' viewership will be comprised solely of the monkeys that will have flown out of my butt.

I really like the show!

Thanks for the explanation in this thread. I was wondering what happened to Root Beer? This summed it up.

Thanks everyone for explaing it to me. :)

Yeah I wondered about that, but then I just went along with it. Its one of those shows that I like to watch just to pass the time after the big bang theory.
