Did I miss something?

I was thinking that why doesnt the squad take that medication that was on one of the commercials. The one that keeps u from turning after a bite. That would make much more sense for a trained military-like squadron to take a medication that protects u from bites. The commercial should not have been there if it was gonna be left out of the plot.
Was it mentioned in the movie why they didn't take it? I missed a few minutes of the film.
