Yeah that's what my family was saying, I assumed it was just some guy. I don't see why Obama would be sending some text about what he's about to do and have a gun on him in some bar.

I was trying to figure that out, too. But my friend said the movie's end would have taken place in the mid 90s, right before Obama got into politics. So not sure if this really fits or not.

I wondered why no one else mentioned this. I saw someone ask about this, so I paid attention at the end to see if there was anything to it the 2nd time I saw the movie and it's a white guy, so clearly not Obama.

I didn't think it was a black guy, but I keep hearing Democrats saying that the ending is going to anger the right so I guess it was supposed to be Barrack. Still he found Abe as a young man why would he be seeking a pupil in his 40s?

It was Abraham Lincoln. Remember when Henrey said he could restore the dead? That was to show that Henrey turned Lincoln into a vampire after being shot. Lincoln then joined Henry on his eternal war with Vampires.

In the book, This is revealed during Martin Luther King's I HAVE A DREAM speech.

It could have been Obama in say 2007 before he ran for POTUS. We had texting back then still..

Thanks for the info about the book and it being lincoln. But in the movie it seems like they changed it.

Work on your capitalization before you start being critical of others seeing something incorrectly. If the trivia is correct, it was the script-writer. The brief glimpse we had in the movie did not look like the back of a blond-haired white guy—and apparently to a lot of people. It looked like dark hair, and that it looked short and curly. The fact that your vision may be a tad better does not grant you any level of genius.

Yep, and I acknowledged that. And you sharper-eyed eagles can pat yourself on the back for being able to distinguish the pattern difference. But there was enough of a filter on the lens and lighting to give a mistaken impression of darker skin and darker curlier hair (or maybe it's just because I didn't watch it on Blu-Ray) that plenty of other posters have already said they've seen. In fact, I'd say more have leaned to the Obama side than the screen-writer side. Of course we are still wrong, but the point is that is image is not as apparently clear as some of you want to protest it is.

I thought the guy was black actually, because the hair was sort of like Obama's. Maybe that's what they did, just made a guy who is everything and let the audience decide who it is.

Even in the book, I wasn't too sure about the reason to keep Abe as a vampire. Abe would hate it, they couldn't kill other vampires and all the vampires have moved out of the US.

Yet another scene that changed significantly from book to movie. Without a sequel, why leave the identity a mystery. Since they left out the Henry/Booth connection having a big surprise reveal at the end would have let the audience fill in the dots.

I don't think the guy at the end was supposed to be anybody in particular. He was just a guy who was down and had a vampire incident and Henry was going to train him next. Since the movie clearly is not the same as the book, it's def not Abe. And everyone who is making it a presidential candidate is just reaching really far. It's supposed to take place nowadays, so it's just a guy.

I didn't even know there was a book, but I just figured it was Lincoln because he pitched the idea to him. I don't know if he ever said no, but then he is on his way to the theater where he obviously was killed and I just assumed Henry brought him back. I said to my buddy at the movie, "that's Lincoln!" Although, he thought that was a foolish idea then I come on here and see that it in fact was him. At least, it was in the book, apparently.

This is just sad. I thought everyone knew this was based on a book. They even got the author to write the script... That's the entire point why the film got made, because the book was so popular.

Yes it was Lincoln in the book, but that scene also took place at the I Have a Dream speech. The guy in the movie was not Lincoln. Not sure what the point of that scene in the movie really was. In fact, it trivialized the entire movie because it implied any idiot at a bar with a gun could do what Lincoln did.

I'm STILL always right.

while i havent read the book, and have only recently watched the film, as for the book what sense would it make that Abe is a Vampire now? in this stories mythos Vampires cant kill their own kind so they are basically useless are they not? or is that different in the book as well?

Ill admit at first i thought it was Obama. it somewhat makes sense, but reading peoples comments here its obvious it isnt, but i just cannot see it being Abe especially how he was (in the film) when his son died. so unless its completely different in the book...

I am on a movie site posting about movies. Your sarcastic comment about reading the book is troll -like behavior because you are hiding behind your anononimity make snarky remarks. There are plenty of gracious people on this site who would have responded to my remark in a playful or educational manner. Those are Non-trolls. You DO realize the trailer for this film mentions it's based on a best selling novel and the credits here on this site say "writtien by Seth Graham Smith and based on his novel." Considering it's written right here on this page, the opening credits for this movie, and the trailer for the movie I don't count being aware of the fact that water is wet as trolling.
