Refreshingly real characters, a brilliant director/writer

I really enjoyed this movie, only saw it last night. It was so refreshing to see real looking people, people you can actually relate to, as characters in a film. The sisters where so plain looking and feeling in a good way it felt real and that it could also happen to you, and made you care about them. I am so glad for a change we didn't have these Hollywood "stars" whose faces and bodies are so far out from normal. The acting was really impressive. In the beginning I felt like I or a friend could have easily been in the living room with them, chatting, they were so normal and real. Getting a feeling like this also means they were acting very well.
I've seen the threads wondering why the cast was so chubby or something like this. What?? Honestly?? They weren't and even if they were so what? They looked like REAL PEOPLE. And made you feel it could well be one of them in a similar mess.
Quite the opposite, I loved 'Before You Awake' ie 'Somnia'. And by the way it should have been titled Somnia! But. Kate Bosworth. I kept wondering through out the whole movie how someone can be that perfect and that beautiful, even her lipstick was perfect in every single seen! So I guess that sort of ruined a part of the experience for me. Even though once again, a brialliant movie by Flanagan.
I am somehow really taken back and full of admiration by the fact that this was made to the most part from funds acquired by crowd funding. It's just great. I also loved the fact all the people who donated are thanked during the credits. It is just unbelievable what Flanagan and his team achieved with such a low budget. It didn't really show like almost always. I am so glad he now has chances to make movies with real budgets just hope it won't ruin his projects as the producers etc has so much say over the movies then.
Imagine directors like Wan who have millions and millions to spend in a movie. And as much as I liked some of his or rather one of his movies, movies like Conjuring 2...??? Absentia is a hundred times better!!!
