Betty Woodman's work -- not a fan

I'm obviously out of step with the art world as her work is well-regarded, but the piece on display in China at the end of the movie seemed deeply ugly and depressing to me, not something that made me feel happy as she suggested her work makes people feel. Oh well.

I agree! I think her daughters photographs were far and above better than all of Betty's art combined. I found Betty selfish and disgusting, both parents were.

I don't think any of them had much talent, though obviously self-taken pics of naked girls are stare-worthy

George's attempts to emulate his daughter's work are nothing short of pathetic. I'm glad the old man has a chance to keep busy and take pics of young naked girls in a "legit" way, though.

However, Francesca's photos do have a touch of the sublime, even without knowing the details of her life and tragic death. And I will confess to being moved by the romantic, sorrowful looks of some of the young men gazing at her photos. Very Byronian.

She has some powerful champions, such as Arthur Danto, but her PR strikes me as even more formidable than her sculpting prowess. Just how much of the actual painting of her pieces was done by her husband George, anyone know?

Her art is meaningless. There is nothing in her art that says her. I could make a vase and sneak it into her exhibition and nobody would notice the difference.
