Stewart Copeland

Although the Police were a great band, I personally think Stewart Copeland stands out above the other two. He is one of the great drummers ever, but I don't think many folks would consider Andy Summers or Sting as one of the great guitarists/bassists.

I'm just a middle-aged dirtbag baby, listening to Peter Frampton maybe.

Hey SyKosis... Stewart has been my (and my brother's), drumming idol, growing up in the 80's. Both of us became drummers, and a big part of our drumming inspiration came from Stewart. We finally were able to see The Police on their reunion tour a few years back. Also, we just saw Stewart a few weeks ago playing drums with a pianist and a few other players, at the University very near where we live. He is still AWESOME!

...and nobody beats The Riz!

But Sting was, far and away, the best songwriter of the band. Not even close. Without those great songs/melodies, no one would have ever heard of (the superb drummer) Stewart Copeland. And ?ting's bass playing was/is damn good. Check out his basslines to songs such as "Walking On The Moon" and "Every Little Thing She Does is Magic" and "Driven To Tears" etc.

I love Stewart Copeland's drumming. His drumming on "No Time This Time" is one of my favorite drum performances ever.
