ClarK's wife was unsympathetic

I just didn't like Sherry Stringfield as the wife. I don't know. Maybe it was her kind of nasty attitude to the police and keeping things from them that could have helped them catch him sooner the lying or lie by not saying. I just felt that she was upitty and cared more for her reputation and busIness contacts than do all that's needed to bring back a daughter you love. IMO

I thought the same thing but I think it's more at fault of the script. It just isn't written well and doesn't put the viewer (us) in any sympathetic situations to where we can more understand what happened. This is a very intelligent successful independent business woman and the movie leads us to believe no reason other then pure naivety to be the reason she fell for him. I've studied psychology for a long time and this movie just doesn't show any of it. Just look at the large amounts of unsympathetic posts. I believe there had to be a buildup of trust at the beginning and love between them and slowly the truth came out, faster in the end it blew up. The movie gives us no reasons to feel compassion toward the woman and even the daughter is never shown to be effected by anything! We worry for her only as a natural human concern as a response but we never get to a moment where we have that lump in our throats where some would really feel the moments.

The wife was an idiot for not knowing anything about her husband of 12 years. How she didn't get warning signs when no one from the Rockefeller family showed up for their wedding is beyond me!

Right. I really did not understand why she held back in saying that he was not really a Rockafeller. It did make her look like saving face and keep her business reputation in tact.

However, maybe she thought that the Rockafeller last name would keep his picture in the media, so that is truly what kept her silent. Further, she knew how important to him it was to keep up with the sham. So, maybe she figured that reports of him not being who he said he was would spook him and make him do something desperate.
