The Diamonds*Spoilers*

Assuming the events depicted were true, I don't know why Suskind would give away the diamonds to the Germans, who screwed him on the final deal involving his wife and daughter. Surely it would have been better to at least try and keep them and use them as a negotiating tool for later situations.
