Saw this today at melbourne film festival

The director was there too. It was quite a good film in terms of its approach and shaky hand held camera work. Of course it is not the first film of this kind. Even Cassavettes used handheld cameras extensively in his films in the seventies.

The three stories all intersected with each others, similar to Amorres Perros and some other films. What would have been more interesting is if there was less linearity in the footage. It seems like the characters just happened to film everything and in reality, this wouldn't have happened. Not in all three stories anyway. All it did was keep reminding me that this was a movie. The suspension of disbelief didn't work because with some sequences, you were really aware that the character would not have filmed that particular interaction or just so happened to have the camera at such a good angle. It would have been interesting if the director deliberately left huge gaps in the recorded footage, like someone would in real life if you were carrying around a camera. It would have led the audience to do a lot more guessing and filling in the blanks.

Still, a very good film.
