2 Hour long mms.........not even close to be called movie..

I have this belief about movies, that either they are impact movie(RDB) or they should be entertainers. This movie is none. Neither it created any impact, it fails in providing entertainment, i went to watch this movie, without any expectations, still, it was bummer!!!
Cam shooting is sometimes, little bothering and leaves audience on screenplay, which is tight but not entertaining, story is either predictable or gets confusing. I hope Dibakar will come back with better stuff next time, he is rare talent in Bollywood.

Damn.. its so sad for you that you missed the point of the movie completely. This is one of the best and the boldest bollywood movies I have ever seen. Scenes in the movie are shot so well, so realistically, the camera used so smartly that they come uncomfortably close to life. At a point, I even forgot I was watching just a movie. Please go watch it again, and this time pay attention.

First point raised by you is that its best and boldest bollywood movie ever, BEST, i don't think its worth discussion as its perspicuous, it may differ for you and me. Boldest, How do you rate your movies bold?? Sex scenes? bold statements? bold ideas?
Lets define the movie on all these terms:
bold scenes: yes, it does contain some boldest of scenes, so?
bold statements: yes, hindi abuses are not so common, but does that make any difference here to no non-sense audience?
bold ideas: LSD is amalgamation of loosely coupled, different motive stories, which deals 3 ideas, as love, sex and betray all captured by hand-held cameras. Neither of this is original piece of idea, we have seen hand-held camera movies before, many times, inter-related stories, are pretty common, thanks to Guy Ritchie. So, where does this movie stands tall from any such movie? and what aspect does it deals with, successfully?
Apart from second story, why protagonist keeps such a huge camera always on? many scenes where camera was stupidly kept on, could be avoided and let the intelligent audience guess through the screen-play.
May be you watched it too closely, try watchin from distant next time :P
PEACE!!

Totally agree with you... 2 hr long mms.. it was dreadful.. i had expectations from the movie & all shattered.. it was an awful, cheap, non-sense & non-entertaining 'supossed to be' comedy, or whatever... so sluggish that i came out with a headache !! I'v seen the worst movies, this was worst of all !!

These 2 knuckleheads, the original poster and "sweetestpiscean" don't even have credibility here at IMDb, lol! Sweetestpiscean, what did you do, just register so you can ATTACK the film??? And the o.p, registered awhile back but this is the first-ever movie he's ever commented on...good grief. They're probably the same person under 2 handles, someone FIRED from the set..heheh

You argue that this isn't the 'best and boldest' Bollywood movie. Yet you talk about Guy Ritchie. Guy Ritchie is a HOLLYWOOD director. It may not be an original idea per se... but it is original to Bollywood. See what I'm saying??

Try watching a few more movies before you can start complaining.. or comparing :)

Go Get a Life Dude!! If u dnt like this then i am sure ur fav wuld be RGV ki AAG

Completely man! I had heard such bad reviews about this movie, but loved it when I actually saw it. Gotta understand that the puns in the movie were VERY MUCH INTENDED! Dibakar has made a parody of the '80s era in parts (the starting credits and especially the hair styles :) I couldn't help but think his movie making for LSD was heavily inspired from Quintin Tarantino (and in particular, Grindhouse movie).

I'm thrilled to know that our industry has such highly talented people like Dibakar. Damn man! Can't wait to see more from him!

(SPOILER ALERT)

Although I agree that this movie might not be very appealing to most Indian audiences, but then again if THAT is the criteria to judge a movie, then I guess directors like sooraj barjatia or karan johar would be the best in the country, but we all know how disastrous that would be for indian cinema.

As per the movies that have an impact, I'd hardly consider RDB as a measuring rod. it might have been entertaining for a one time watch, but nothing more than that. Movies like Maatrubhoomi, or Hazaaron Khwahishein Aisi, or even My Brother Nikhil however, did make an attempt to say something constructive through the accurate depiction of reality. it's the same with DB's LSD - the shock that this movie garnered will have people talking about it in the serious circles for a while. but if you look at the events unfolding in the movie, it is hardly shocking as this is the kind of thing that we read in the newspapers everyday.

what I found shocking as an audience was the reaction of the crowd when a young couple gets killed on screen, most of the people believed that it was a just punishment for bring "family name" to shame. when a sex scene was shot on CCTV, the perverts in the audience screamed at the distortion on the screen.

such reactions is the reality of india, and that was aptly portrayed in the movie too. the way reality TV has become the viagra for floppy indian mental dicks, can only be experienced if one watches the movie in a theatre. That's when i realized how important this movie is. RDB was a good movie, but LSD, like it's namesake, took me to a different level, and is far more serious too. Indian Cinema is changing. whether you like it or not. I, love it.

Its a pity you missed the point of the film dude!

The fact that DB made this movie makes me respect him even more. The sheer brilliance of it is that they have managed to incorporate digital format into the script (or may be the other way round)

Love- This part is a simple story with a tongue in cheek romance and it with our jaws dropping.
Sex- pretty predictable. However, what is awesome is that they shot it with just 3 'still' cameras! Can you imagine that! It thus has a voyeuristic quality to it.
Dhoka- A sting operation which produces no fodder. That's the beauty. All the pieces fall together.

I would recommend that you watch it again.

its people like you who drag down good films

this was a very good film, showing what the people are really like, at their worst...

its like pulp fiction, without the gangsters...

this movie makes me proud to say indian films are fast catching up with the international ones... not just in shock factor, but in evolving of an art form

"You are not in Kansas anymore" Avatar, The Star Wars of our generation...

its just your POV....

LSD is the bravest if not the best of modern indian cinema...

This is smart movie making. I respect your opinion, but why are you trying to limit the scope of a movie? Impact movie or an entertaining movie? Seriously? For me, it had both the entertaining (did you notice the brilliant dialog or at least, listen to the soundtrack) and impact (voyeurism in India has never been portrayed as realistically as this movie does) factors.

loved this movie!
I donno whats rong with u guys... thts the reason we have routine typical love stories because of audience like you. Indian cenima need to evolve. Enugh of those cheesy movies.
I just came to know its bit derived form 2007 yr movie "look" but since i didnt see it i enjoyed every part of it.
the Quentin Tarantino stylization is also noticeable... but the story is so different and so involving for me. handy cam movies are a stylization in narration .(if u donno ..there are already several hit movies in hollywood starting from blair witch project) no1 ll screen a mms in theaters assole!
i guess u opened ur pants in theater expecting porn clips??

reply

RDB isn't really an 'impact movie'. The way the story is concluded is amateurish. LSD is on a whole other level and yes, far superior when compared to pretentious fluff like RDB.

reply

@ smartymeet & sweetestpiscean

This is a revolution in indian cinema.............
The movie was awesome but i think u guys don't have any sense of good cinema.....rather u should watch the porn mms because u can only understand that and that will entertain u.......
This movie is a landmark movie in indian cinema, could have been better but hats off to dibakar bannerji for this courageous step......

DB rocks. We need more movies like this.
We are afraid to watch the reality of our beloved society which the film-maker has portrayed. Most people in our country like watching Karan Johar/Barjatya type stuff and pretend everything is fine.
